Co-owned by husband-and-wife team Salvador Contreras and Jennifer Mongolo, we bring our shared love of nature and decades of combined expertise in biology, GIS, urban ecology, and environmental planning to every project. Discover the dynamic duo behind Streamscape Environmental LLC: Jennifer Mongolo (Jen), the visionary urban ecologist, and Salvador Contreras (Sal), the seasoned biologist.
Jen Mongolo
Owner, Principal Ecologist & Environmental Planner
Jennifer (Jen) Mongolo is a seasoned environmental planner with more than 20 years of experience in natural resource management, environmental consulting, local government, and conservation. Her interdisciplinary background spans environmental planning, ecology, geographic information systems, stakeholder engagement, ecological restoration, urban forestry, land conservation, and mitigation banking.
After founding Streamscape Environmental in 2009, serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in central Mexico, and holding positions with Los Angeles County and the City of Salem, Oregon, Jennifer returned to Streamscape Environmental full time in 2024. She specializes in developing collaborative, science-based solutions that integrate environmental stewardship with community and development objectives.

Salvador Contreras is a wildlife biologist and GIS specialist with more than 21 years of experience spanning government agencies, academia, conservation organizations, and private consulting. His expertise includes wildlife surveys, habitat assessments, environmental compliance, wetland delineation, and GIS analysis.
Before relocating to the United States in 2016, Salvador led the Conservation Strategy for Sustainable Development at Mexico’s Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve. Since then, he has supported utility, infrastructure, restoration, and development projects throughout the western United States, helping clients navigate complex biological and regulatory challenges while protecting sensitive species and habitats. Fluent in Spanish and English, he also serves as a critical bridge between project teams, field crews, and stakeholders.
